Why Locations Are Important

Boise Family Photography

From glowing seas of grass to ponderosa pine forests, meandering rivers to glassy lakes, snow-capped mountains to big sky country horizons… our home is lovely and provides many different options for great photography session locations. After living in the valley for almost ten years, I’ve compiled a list of my favorite go-to spots.

Golden Hour Family Session in the Eagle Foothills

Why Choosing THAT Place Matters

The place you choose for our session might not seem like it would be of great importance but let me tell you, it certainly is!

Choosing a beautiful session location enhances the aesthetic appeal of the photos, creates a memorable experience for you, and adds depth and meaning to the storytelling aspect of photography.

Firstly, if you plan to display your family photos on the walls of your home or perhaps on the digital waffle scrapbook (AKA Instagram) I promise you’re going to want a stunning location to enhance your aesthetic.

One of the sole purposes of having your pictures taken is so that you can look back on them and remember, cherish, re-live the moment/time in your memory.

Authentic stories can’t be faked… and if they could that would be a bit of an oxymoron to say the least.

So what are you waiting for? Let’s go on an adventure and create memories that you get to hold onto in photographs!

The Foothills

My number one suggestion. My go to. My main resort. The bread and butter I might say of my photography lies out there in the foothills, tucked behind a sage brush somewhere. Just kidding… but also maybe I’m not. :)

I will never be able to get enough of the resulting photos after a good, golden hour session.

There’s something so appealing about the warmth of the photos and the way the light catches every strand of hair, every blade of grass, and every tuft of flowing dresses.

The light before the sun dips down behind the horizon is elegant. It is warm and welcoming. Though it’s the end of the day, there’s a new beginning when I’ve got a camera in my hand.

The Star Riverwalk

If I may time it just right and the evening tide of golden light pours in through the trees producing the best bolka and bounces off the surface of the Boise river creating a glow, the recipe for beautiful photos is right here.

The Star Riverwalk is a bit of a hidden gem in my eyes. There’s not many people to run into there besides the occasional golden retriever and the quiet fly-fisher.

It’s peaceful. Good for the soul and great for a family session. :)

Even the gnats from this Star Riverwalk family session added a whimsical touch.

There’s More to Explore!

I do have more locations to share with you so keep a lookout for future blogs! I get a bit antsy sitting down writing for long hours so I’ll wrap up today’s post with this: cherish each little moment. There is extraordinary beauty in the ordinary things. Until next time dear friends.
