Don’t Forget This!

Something that I hear quite often from people is this:

“Time speeds up as you get older! Just wait until you have kids. They grow up fast!”

In this blog, I delve into WHY I love pictures. Everyone has a story and a purpose in this world that transcends our own selves.

The urge to document our lives is beautiful and is something to embrace.

Some tell stories through pen & paper.

Others, through the lens of a camera.

Documenting the Moment

I can’t be the only one who’s still processing that it is the year 2025. It seems like just yesterday people were talking about how bittersweet it was to leave behind the 2010’s and welcome in the 20’s.

One of the greatest parts about photos is that they preserve memories. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for living in the moment and not being caught up in your phone trying to film, share, and photograph every last thing you or your family does.

However, I do think it’s very special to document things and to have photos that are YOURS. That you get to hold onto as the years go by and go back and look at. Photos that capture a glimpse of the story of your life unfolding.

Back in Time

My fiance and I got to fly out and visit his grandparents back in February. They were so excited to pull out their boxes and envelopes full of childhood and family photos. We sat in their living room looking at all of the pictures, smiling, laughing, and talking about the memories the photos held. They hold the photos of their grandchildren near and dear.

We also got to take a trip over to the Fort Worth Stockyards in Texas during our visit. There were black and white photos everywhere that showed the cowboy history that unfolded in that place. Museums filled with pictures of influential people, their inventions, and where the story played out.

It’s incredible that photos allow us to take a glimpse into the past.

Pictures nowadays are what I would liken to “fast-food” photography.

It’s not bad to have thousands of photos on your camera roll. I have around 35,000 photos and my phone is constantly begging me to buy more storage! It is SO easy to snap a picture and then just forget about it. It falls into the swath of all the other photos on the roll.

In a world where instant gratification and ease pervade our society, quality and beauty has been pushed to the sidelines.

A Lasting Legacy

I am an old soul at heart. My heart for my photography is to create something beautiful and lasting for you to cherish. Photos for you to sit down in your living room with your family and go back through and look at. Memories that make you smile and remember the sweetness of life.

Life sure does go fast. Remember to slow down and go back through old photos every once and a while. Also don’t forget to document the seasons now. :) I’d love to do that for you and your family. It is my joy to tell your story.

All unto Jesus!
