Idaho State Capitol Elopement
Colin & Jamie
There is something so beautifully intimate about an elopement, and Colin and Jamie’s day was the perfect reminder of why I love them so much.
Their ceremony took place inside the stunning Idaho State Capitol in downtown Boise — a location that somehow feels both grand and incredibly peaceful at the same time. With only a handful of their closest people present, the atmosphere was calm, meaningful, and full of anticipation. Jamie’s sister had the honor of officiating their ceremony, which made it even more personal and emotional. There is just something so special about having a sibling lead you into one of the most important moments of your life.
As they exchanged vows, their words were heartfelt and sincere — the kind that make you tear up behind the camera! The Capitol was especially magical that day, adorned with beautiful Christmas decorations that added a warm, festive glow to the marble halls. The soft twinkle of lights and evergreen garlands made their winter elopement feel even more romantic.
After they were officially husband and wife, we wandered through the Capitol together. I loved following them as they danced in the rotunda, laughed in the quiet corridors, and simply soaked in the preciousness of being married. There was no rush, no pressure — just the two of them fully present with each other. Those are the moments that make elopements so powerful.
But the adventure didn’t stop there.
We headed over to the nearby Military Reserve for the next part of their day — and it was magical! Jamie and Colin brought along their three adorable puppies (which, let’s be honest, instantly makes any wedding day better). I absolutely love when couples include their dogs in their wedding photos. They’re not “just pets” — they’re family.
The four of them hiked up to the viewpoint at the top, and everything was covered in frost. The trees shimmered, the ground sparkled, and the crisp winter air gave the whole scene an ethereal feel. It felt like we had stepped into a snow globe. Watching them snuggle their pups, laugh together, and take in the view as newlyweds was such a joy to capture.
Colin and Jamie’s elopement was proof that you don’t need a big crowd to have a deeply meaningful wedding day. You just need love, intention, and a willingness to make the day your own.
It was truly so much fun documenting their story — from the elegant halls of the Capitol to a frosty mountaintop with their three sweet dogs. What a beautiful way to begin forever. All Unto Jesus!
